Fight back against Channel 4’s war on cannabis.

Drug Warrior Jon Snow and Quack 'Dr' Christian Jessen

Drug Warrior Jon Snow and Quack ‘Dr’ Christian Jessen

Drugs Live:Cannabis‘ is a massive fraud perpetrated on the British people by a broadcaster that places cheap and dishonest scaremongering above its duty for truth and balance.

I expect the programme itself to be balanced and probably reach the correct conclusion on the evidence but the pre-publicity has been misleading and irresponsible.  Most people reached by the pre-publicity won’t watch the programme.

Make a complaint to Channel 4 Here.

  3. The fact that there calling it a new form of cannabis (skunk) is a load rubbish. You need to get facts right before putting it on t.v! Skunk has been round for thousands of years! Any scientist that uses the term skunk for other than a strain shouldn’t be a scientist. The BBC are making themselves look like total idiots there’s big change all around the world with cannabis. it’s unreal that alcohol is legal but cannabis is not….. I could make a list as long as may arm for the bad points on alcohol, no good points. Cannabis, the list is endless for the good it can bring….

    • Your arm must be massive and I completely agree with you.

      josh little

      March 3, 2015 at 10:43 pm

    • I agree but you can’t slate the BBC this time, nothing to do with them. Channel 4! You high or something? 🙂

      March 3, 2015 at 11:09 pm

    • Did You watch the programme ?? Firstly “Skunk” is around max 45 years, not thousands as you suggested. The point you made about alcohol is correct which myself I would agree with however this too was outlined in the programme

Lastly the programme was on channel 4 not the BBC.

      Pip

      March 4, 2015 at 11:21 am

      • Skunk 1, the original strain is Sativa/Indica, and yes it is a land race strain, that has been a round for thousands of years. Originated in the middle east.

        Craig Edmondeio

        March 5, 2015 at 4:53 am

      • It is not a landrace strain, it is a hybrid between Afghan indica, Mexican and Colombian sativas.

  5. Wouldn’t complaining to ofcom about this programme make more sense, then an inquiry into the facts stated in it will have to be made and channel four and the home office will have questions to answer. including why they allow a novice smoker inhale whitey inducing quantities for entertainment (not scientific) but do not allow patients access to this plant to ease symptoms or pain! Makes me sick

    chris

    March 3, 2015 at 10:48 pm

    • Stoners of the world unite in your bullshit. You don’t want it legalised for pain relief or cancer suffers etc etc etc, sick to death of your claptrap!! Ye want it to get STONED!! Pure and simple. Ye are all a waste of space

      Noreen

      March 4, 2015 at 11:20 am

      • Clearly Noreen is an expert on everything and is infalable. You DO NOT speak for every cannabis user, and you’ve already proven you know nothing about what you talk about.

Just so you know, Mr expert on everything, it’s NOT illegal to smoke cannabis, only to posess it.

Alcohol IS worse than cannabis and if you disagree you are stupid and naive as you are arguing with scientific fact.

Go pick up a book, or at least make an attempt to learn something before you unleash your stupidity on the internet.

      • Not everyone who smokes weed abuses it therefore for you to assume that anyone who smokes weed is a stoner would be the same as calling everyone who enjoys a pint an alcoholic

  8. Its all a load of bollox just to scare people away from using marijuana!! Yeah some people may respond to it badly but people make their own choices by smoking a spliff and finding out for themselves not by watchimg how one old man reacts!! If they really wanna put marijuana on trial then they should make the entire population of the uk get high for one night and then do a poll to see how people respond. My moneys on that most people will enjoy it or indeed benefit from the effects! Now thats a fair test!!

    luke

    March 3, 2015 at 11:23 pm

    • If everyone in the uk did it for one night the police wouldn’t have much do nobody would be bothered to fight go stealing they be like I’m staying in give some more of yhat

  10. Blatant propoganda … this is not science ..I have smoked weed for 15 years and had to quit becuase of my job 6 months ago (I’ve had zero side effects) …i did like to enjoy a smoke at weekends and I really enjoyed to relax and unwind with cannabis …it helped me with stress better than any other drug (including alcohol) I found that I would wake up perfectly hangover free the next day unlike alcohol …Jon Snow was given far too much and is highly unlikely to enjoy his experience in a noisy MRI scanner …extremely upset about this programme 😦

    lewis powell

    March 3, 2015 at 11:41 pm

    • You dont wake up “HANGOVER FREE”. Only the stoners think that. Once you have a HIGH, you have to have a LOW!! That’s pure and simple/ Why don’t ye ask the people who live with ye. Ye are a nightmare, with crankiness, paranoia, laziness, lack of motivation. And thats just for starters. Alcoholics aside, most people who overindulge in alcohol will attest to that fact. They will acknowledge their overindulgence and the bad effect of alcohol. Never ever ever has a stoner admitted that their cannibas habit is negatively effecting their life. All ye do is go on about the good side of cannibas, its healing properties, pain relief, etc.. YE ARE NOT SMOKING IT FOR THAT!!!! Time you all bloody copped on, sick to death of listening to your crap!!

      Noreen

      March 4, 2015 at 11:27 am

      • In the words of NWA …. ***** SHUT THE **** UP, reason to stoners not owning up that its bad for you is because it actually isn’t … Once again another person who has had the wool pulled over there eyes by the people who control the media.

        kyle

        March 4, 2015 at 1:28 pm

      • Yeh it does have a negative effect it knackers my lungs I don’t deny that but again certain effects you mention can happen depending on the person body reacts. Alcohol can make some people confident it can make some people aggressive like any drug the effects can vary from person to person. But if we truly live in a free world why can’t I choice what I want to do as long as it doesn’t interfere with other peoples lives

        Dave

        March 4, 2015 at 7:58 pm

      • Noreen, I have never heard so much bullshite come out of one single person! You are clearly biased against cannabis and the origins of which should be addressed. I would almost bet that you have been in a failed relationship with a cannabis addict and believe that everyone who enjoyes a smoke is the same. Firstly, the effects of any drug are different from person to person. Secondly, not everyone who enjoyes a smoke is “addicted” to cannabis. That’s just like saying that everyone who enjoyes a drink is an alcoholic and are all the same. Do you enjoy a drink now and again? Then you must wake up extremely grumpy, spend your whole day drinking alcohol, having issues with work and family and throwing your life away! Wouldn’t be fair to say that, so what you are saying is also not fair. I would suggest you think long and hard before you make another comment and would defo not comment about something you clearly have no idea about!!

      • Noreen, watch a documentary called… Bad seed. About medical marijuana . And see for yourself u moron!!
Who has made u an expert on cannabis? Do u actually know why it’s illegal and who made it illegal ?? The rocker fellers, rothchilds and jp Morgan, because they owned the cotton plantations and word plantations and oil fields,, which hemp can put them out of business and cost them billions per year!! NOW GO AND DO SOME RESEARCH !!!

  11. Please let’s see a programme were alcohol is substituted for cannabis and the same experiments are performed and consider the amount of people on anti depressants. Let’s have the MRI scans on these drugs too

    Sandra preece

    March 3, 2015 at 11:48 pm

    • Sandra, here we go again the usual argument from stoners about alcohol/cannibas. That’s like one criminal who is a burglar comparing himself to an armed robber, and thinking he is not as bad. One is not worse or better that the other. They are both criminals and have to accept that what they are doing is wrong. Saying that one is worse that the other, does not make the other alright. Accept the reality of cannibas use.

      Noreen

      March 4, 2015 at 11:33 am

      • Why is it wrong because some jump up twat in a suit says so or some one like your self that looks down on people says so wonder what the out come of a public vote to legalise it would be

        Dave

        March 5, 2015 at 1:05 pm

  12. I was very displeased with the way you blatantly ignored current up to date research and just focused on the negative side to cannabis.

I hate the way your guests talked about addiction. Please refer to Dr Gabor Mate in the future to get a better understanding of addiction…

The police superintendent from harrow was an idiot. Does he think if cannabis was legalised more youths would hit the street corners to hustle selling weef. Or will they get legit jobs within the cannabis industry.

The judge was an actual idiot. God help anyone who stands in front of that man in court. Did he even know what the show was about.

So you had judge dread and robocop on but the iceing on the cake was the addiction rehabilitation lady. She clearly has never read anything on addiction. She didn’t even fully grasp what it actually was.

You just looked stupid really. Jon Snow is a terrible journalist too. Paxman he is not. An idiot he is.

Professor Nutt was your most credible guest and he spoke a lot of sense.

I wrote this after vaporising a tonne of skunk.

Please stop spreading BS and start giving the world all the facts so we can make our own minds up.

  14. it’s outrageous that they’re trying to brainwash people Into thinking that weed is bad. I mean, how many people have died directly from weed use? 0. How many people have died from Alcohol related issues, hundreds of thousands each year. Weed is a natural growing thing, for Christ sake people need to open their eyes.

  15. This documentary was a load of balls, if they legalised and regulated it. Growing it with a amont of cbd that’s going to counteract the percentage of thc. Whats the problem. None of them made a valid point on why making it legal shouldn’t be done due to the medical advantages and if regulated the lack of side effects. They made the advantages clear, but not why it’s illegal. They’re clearly just thinking about how much money its going to put the government out pharmaceutically if it’s made legal due to it treating so many problems… so no need for these prescription drugs you hear people overdosing on all the time. All plants are put her for a reason, let it serve its purpose….

    Vincent roberts

    March 4, 2015 at 1:27 am

  17. I think it should stay illegal. All the money from growing it will then be shifted to the government, they have enough of our money, there are thousands of people who rely on steady cash flow to pay bills etc because there meager zero hour contract jobs just dont bring in steady pay who grow small amounts. You only get a slap on the wrist if your caught anyway and the thrill of smoking in public openly will soon lose its appeal

    James

    March 4, 2015 at 6:48 am

  18. James@17 – You make a very good point. One way round it – possibly? Allow people to grow a certain amount for personal use (say a couple of plants?) – then people could sell to ‘friends’ whatever they don’t use themselves….

  19. I watched a good 45 minutes, enough time to watch jon snow have to be pulled out the MRI Scanner but do you know something. He didnt suffer an anxiety attack from the ‘skunk’, he suffered it from the uncomfortable environment he was placed in. The facts and figures were wrong, I know people who watched that stoned and could recall part of the story shown about 300 people etc and the scientist that said skunk was new is clearly not a scientist and show never have been on the programme in the first place. The ideology of music is correct but ‘they weren’t allowed to listen to their own music because of the university’ but if there did, the results would have been much more conclusive from a personal perspective. Technically, because the candidate didnt’ smoke a ‘joint containing tobacco’ just pure cannabis, the effects would of been ten fold anyway. If channel 4 wanted a real documentary, they should of gotten real people , real weed that is smoked by the members of the population on a daily basis rather than some genetically tampered with growth for thr purpose of a television programme and made it the programme centred on realitylife rather than try to demonise something that is used by more then a quarter of the country.

  20. “”Dear Channel 4, although I enjoyed your programme it seems very distant from the truth. I form a debate based around the legalization movement in America. The front-lining question really should be “if marijuana is so addictive, bad for you, why was it dispensed around parts of America as a MEDICINE before it was made recreational? I also hated that ex addict you had on the show. EVERY PHOTOGRAPH of that guy he had dilated pupils the size of 2 pound coins. He was on much more than marijuana but you didn’t even mention that as a possibility. When you talk about marijuana ‘addiction’ you can’t through other drugs into the mix. That’s like saying “sneezing kills you” after talking a cyanide pill.””

  21. america has made 1.9 billion dollars, crime is down by 10% and unemployment is at its lowest, NEVER been a death caused by cannabis, cannabis oil has helped cancer patients and other people with various diseases… so how can cannabis be illegal and alcohol be legal?! Please tell me?! The country we live in is a joke.

    March 4, 2015 at 12:52 pm

  22. Channel 4 have all ways been the leaders in controversial documentaries and debates. Your propoganda project to endorse cannabis as a drug to be feared is ignorant and buys in to the consumerist system and political agenda of creating more money by keeping it a criminal activity. Rather than seeing it as a way forward to decriminalize, to tax, to make sure it is of a pure quality and determine the amount the public are able to buy. Having studied substance misuse level 1 and 2 and to be able to work with addicts. I am in favour of legalizing cannabis. The fact it has enormous health benefits especially the oil to help alleviate pain and to completely eradicate cancers in numerous patients, can only be a positive. The reason it is to be illegal is the fear of the fact it opens the field of the pineal gland to creative and expansive thinking drives fear in politicians as it will open individuals lives and minds to see the truth of corruption in our society, our world. Since certain areas of the state’s have legalized cannabis . There has been no increase in crime rates or criminal activity, but a positive reduction. May I also remind Channel 4 Leonardo Da Vinci once stated ‘ The sign of the mind of genius is to hold two opposing views with the same validity simultaneously. Sadly in this programme you have only forwarded a narrow, biased viewpoint. Without covering numerous statistics and analysis of positive studies.

    • I like your comment.why is against the law? What is law who appointed the government’s to tell us what is right or wrong? I work for a living i do not steal and i have never caused anyone any harm, but I’m a criminal because i smoke cannabis. Just because a group of people tell us we are not allowed to smoke it I’m sorry but i make my own mind up i have never felt the need to try any other drug of any class in the 20 yrs i have been using it. These people who decide what drugs are safe for us to take can’t be trusted how many prescription drugs have been removed over the yrs because they have suddenly decided they give people suicidal tenancies etc? I have had enough of being ordered about by government’s, police etc when they have proven they break the “law” too. Time to stop the lies and start informing us with fact and truth maybe then we will start to listen,I believe there is another agenda to cannabis other than the harm it does otherwise why can we still by alcohol, tobacco etc pharmaceutical companies have suppressed it for yrs because you cannot patent a plant therfore the public would be able to grow their own medicine. Hemp (cannabis) was banned in the states many years ago because petroleum and paper companies etc stood to lose millions of dollars it really is amazing how versatile this plant is. So please for once tell us what the problem really is.
      Rant over.

  23. The fact that channel 4 broadcast this programme is appalling. The concept was wasted by tabloid style reporting and a general ignorance of any real medical knowledge. Despite recent scientific insights the show painted a picture of the truth with little or no intrest in the truth.

    colin Bell

    March 4, 2015 at 3:24 pm

  24. This show couldn’t of been any further from the truth. All they did was state the cons of cannabis and not the pros. Didn’t have one pro cannabis person on there even though am sure alot of non no smokers who are pro cannabis would have gone on to give their point of view. Alocohol is 1400x more harmful and cannabis has never killed anyone! Didn’t bring that up did you channel 4? Nope

  25. I disagree with the way the tests were conducted. Skunk vs hash? No one smokes hash anymore except in Europe where it’s still quite popular. I have smoked skunk once and cannabis countless times. I don’t believe skunk is accountable for 80% of the uks cannabis industry. A fairer test would have been sativa vs indica vs skunk. I don’t think ch4 are particularly to blame in the way this research was conducted. I think it’s more general ignorance of the researchers themselves. The things I know about cannabis and its properties I have cumulated over the past few years if research of my own through articles on experiments and grows and effects. Ch4 are in the right street, just knocking on the wrong door.

  27. Why is everyone complaining about this show? It was advocating cannabis legalisation.

The show basically ends with them saying that cannabis should be legalised and that it’s less harmful than alcohol or any other drug. Alright some of their terminology was a bit broad, but the basic concept seemed right to me. Weed that is widely available now in the UK has much more THC, through breeding, and this is more likely to cause psychological harm.

I’ve witnessed this first hand, I’ve known people who have had serious mental health problems through prolonged use of weed high in THC. I also have known people who have had absoloutely no problems at all. I myself have smoked weed for over 10 years of my life. So I haven’t made all of my opinions through one programme on the telly.

Ok maybe SOME of the clips that were released prior to airing were a little scary and seemed to put cannabis in a bad light, but there were also clips that weren’t. It was a fair and genuine representation of the different reactions people have to smoking cannabis

So, unless you want to lie your way to cannabis legalisation than you should except what a study shows. I am strongly pro legalisation of cannabis and I think they did a good job of drawing people’s attention to the issue. I think it was some possitive publicity and will hopefully add to the progression of cannabis legalisation.
